Children are often seen together with their parents. Often parents sit on the couch while talking with their child and Dr. Joe, who are playing a game on the rug, and sometimes parents are invited to join the game. While teenagers often chose to sit on the couch while talking, some decide to play “cards” while talking as it helps them relax. The issue of confidentiality is addressed directly with teenagers and their parents so that everyone feels comfortable with the process. Dr. Rabinovitz spends a great deal of time communicating with parents outside of the clinical hour by phone, text, and email.
